From order to padlock
These are domain-validated certificates: you prove you control the domain, and the certificate is issued. There is no company file to put together.
- 01
Choose a certificate
A single domain or a wildcard, ordered with the domain name it will protect.
- 02
Prove you control the domain
Add the DNS record we give you, upload a file, or answer the validation email. Whichever is easiest for you.
- 03
The certificate is issued
Usually a few minutes after validation goes through. You get the certificate and its chain of trust.
- 04
Install it
Follow the cPanel, Nginx and Apache installation guides that come with every certificate.
Shorter lifetimes, handled for you
A certificate issued today may run for at most 200 days, and from 15 March 2027 that ceiling falls to 100. Your subscription stays yearly: every time the rules call for a new certificate, we reissue it at no extra cost, as often as needed.
- Trusted by every modern browser
- Issued in minutes, no paperwork
Domain validation (DV) proves that you control the domain the certificate is issued for, and nothing beyond that. Encryption and the padlock browsers show are identical to any other certificate. It does not certify who your company is: ChronoHosting does not sell organisation or extended validation.
Usually a few minutes. The clock starts once validation succeeds: add the DNS record, upload the file or answer the validation email, and the certificate follows shortly after.
A single-domain certificate covers one name and its www address. A wildcard covers the domain and every subdomain under it, including ones you create later. If you run subdomains like app, shop or blog, or expect to, take the wildcard.
The rules keep shortening it. A certificate issued today may run for at most 200 days, and one issued from 15 March 2027 for at most 100 — so a certificate expires well before your yearly subscription does. We reissue it for free every time, as often as the rules require.
Start with a domain. Add the rest when you need it.
